A surf lesson in Florianópolis with a qualified instructor, limited to five students per class, where you learn theory on the sand, then spend roughly an hour in the water practicing with personalized tips. The experience

The lesson runs 90 minutes total, starting on the beach where you'll get a board and wetsuit, then move through a short stretch and theory talk about surfing and safety before entering the water. The instructor meets you at the beach and walks through the fundamentals on dry land first, so you know what to expect when the waves start. Once everyone is ready and confident, you paddle out, and if you're just starting, the instructor gives you a push to catch your first waves. If you've surfed before, you'll get pointers on technique instead.

The water time is the core of the class, lasting around an hour. That's long enough for beginners to feel the board respond and start linking turns, and for more experienced surfers to work on something new. When you come out, there's another short stretch and time to ask questions. The school picks beaches matched to your level, so you're not thrown into shore break or sent to a spot too mellow to progress.

Small groups, five people maximum, mean the instructor sees what you're doing and adjusts on the fly instead of shouting corrections from the sand. All instructors are qualified and experienced in teaching, which changes how safe and confident you feel when you're learning something new in the ocean.
