The experience

The tour picks you up from your hotel at 4 AM (times shift slightly by location and season), and drives you to Iguaçu National Park. You arrive at 5 AM, before the gates officially open to the public, and step onto the trails while they're still nearly empty. The guide leads you through the park as the first light hits the water, and the mist rises off the cascades. By the time most visitors are finishing breakfast elsewhere, you've already spent an hour on the main trails, hearing the roar of the falls without the usual crowd noise.

The tour runs only Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and wraps by 10:30 AM. After the trail walk, you sit down to breakfast before heading back. The air-conditioned vehicle handles the round-trip transport, and the guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese depending on your preference.
