Island, waterfall and indigenous village in one morning

A five to six hour tour from Paraty combines Cedro Island, one of the region's most beautiful, with a visit to an indigenous reserve, where you bathe in the Iriri waterfall and see traditional crafts. Private transportation picks you up in town. A boat makes the short crossing to the island, and a guide leads the walk through the reserve. Lunch is at Nelson Bar on the island under an almond tree.

The experience

The day starts with a van pickup in Paraty heading toward Praia do Iriri or Cão Morto, calm beaches where the boat waits. The crossing to Cedro Island takes five to ten minutes and stays quiet and protected. Once there, you have roughly three hours to walk the main beach, swim in clear water, and discover a secret beach on the far side via an easy trail. Lunch happens at Nelson Bar, a simple spot under the remains of an almond tree where the island's main beach curves away.

After the boat returns you to the mainland, the tour moves into the Pataxó indigenous reserve at Iriri Beach. A walk through the village itself shows how the community lives, and then you reach the Iriri waterfall: fresh water dropping into a natural pool where you can swim. The reserve also has crafts on display. If you want to try activities like a pottery wheel, painting, or archery, those can be arranged in advance and cost extra. The return to Paraty closes out the afternoon.
