The experience

You board at Píer do Centro, the main downtown pier, where the captain and crew welcome you aboard a schooner fitted with stereo sound, a central bar, bathrooms and covered areas with tables and benches. The boat sets out along the coast, and the stops come early: Praia dos Ossos, the old fishermen's village that draws photographers, then Praia da Azeda, another picture-perfect spot where you can swim. João Fernandes Beach is next, known for water so clear you can see straight down.

Between the swimming stops, you pass other beaches and islands by water (Ilha do Caboclo, Ilha Branca, Praia das Moças, Praia da Rasa and others) taking them in from the boat. The guide points out what matters as you go. After three hours, you head back to the downtown pier where you started. Bring swimwear, sunglasses and sunscreen. Snorkeling gear can be rented on location if you want it. A city tax of R$ 4 per person is paid in cash on the day of the tour.
