The experience
You start from your hotel in Foz do Iguaçu or Puerto Iguazu and cross the border into Iguazú National Park in Argentina. Every 30 minutes a train departs to the upper section of the falls. You board and ride to the trailhead, then walk the paths that lead to Devil's Throat: the footbridge of 2,080 meters that hangs over the park's largest waterfall. The scale hits you on the approach: 275 waterfalls make up Iguassu Falls, and from this vantage the water falls into a gorge so deep the mist rises back up to meet you.
After Devil's Throat, the Upper Circuit opens six observation points across the top of the Argentine side. On a clear day the sun throws rainbows into the spray, and from the highest platforms you see not just the Argentine falls but San Martín Island and the Brazilian side across the border. The Upper Circuit is wheelchair accessible, so the paths are walkable at your own pace. If your option includes the Brazilian side, you return to the van and drive to the Brazilian park entrance, where you walk 40 minutes to an hour through trails that face the falls head-on and frame the Argentine cliffs in the distance: a completely different angle of the same water.
Your guide speaks English, Spanish or Portuguese and stays with the group throughout. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, though you'll need to bring your passport and check visa requirements for both Brazil and Argentina before you book. National Park entrance fees are separate and can be bought at the Visitor Center or online. There's also a small eco-tourism tax when entering from Puerto Iguazu. Note that Devil's Throat undergoes seasonal maintenance and may be closed. Check the dates before you travel.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (3 to 12 years); Infant (under 3): free.
What is Devil's Throat and why is it the centerpiece of the tour?
Devil's Throat (Garganta do Diabo) is the largest waterfall in Iguazú National Park, and the tour reaches it via a 2,080-meter footbridge that crosses directly over the falls. It's the deepest point in the park where the water plunges into a gorge, and the mist and roar make it the most dramatic single moment of the day.
Can I see both the Argentine and Brazilian sides of the falls in one day?
Yes, if you choose the option that includes the Brazilian side. The tour then runs approximately 11 hours total. You spend the first part in Argentina's Upper Circuit and at Devil's Throat, then cross back and walk the Brazilian-side trails for 40 minutes to an hour facing the same waterfalls from the opposite bank.
Do I need a passport and visa to go to Argentina?
Yes, you must bring a valid passport on the day of travel. Whether you need a visa depends on your nationality and the current entry requirements for both Brazil and Argentina. You are responsible for checking and obtaining any required documents before you book.
What does the Upper Circuit show that Devil's Throat doesn't?
The Upper Circuit takes you to six observation platforms at the top of the falls on the Argentine side, where you see the high points and panoramic views stretching across the park. On a sunny day, rainbows form in the spray. It's a different perspective from Devil's Throat, which is at the base where the water plunges deepest.
Are meals and entrance fees included in the tour price?
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, along with the guide and transportation within the parks. National Park entrance fees are not included and must be purchased separately at the Visitor Center or online. Food, drinks and gratuities are also not included.
