Step-by-step itinerary
Swimming pigs and beach day
- Travel from Nassau by ferry
- Meet and feed swimming pigs
- Relax on white-sand beaches
- Use kayaks and paddleboards
- Climb lighthouse for views
- Enjoy traditional Bahamian lunch
- Return to Nassau by ferry
The experience
Five hours starts with a roundtrip ferry from Nassau to the swimming pigs. Wade into warm, clear water and hold out a snack. They paddle straight over, unbothered by cameras. These pigs roam free in their own lagoon, not in a pen, and the whole encounter lasts long enough to get the shot and the story. Then the ferry carries you to private Pearl Island for the rest of the day.
Pearl Island holds two white-sand beaches: one social and busy, one quiet. Kayaks, paddleboards and floating water mats are all included, so you pick how to spend the afternoon: on the water or on the sand. The island's iconic lighthouse stands ready to climb for views across Nassau Harbour. Fresh-water showers rinse off the salt, and shaded decks and beach chairs wait if you want to sit still. A traditional Bahamian lunch is cooked fresh on the island, and the on-site gift shop is there if you want to take something home.
Check in 15 minutes before departure at Paradise Island Ferry Terminal (East Dock, behind Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville). Pearl Island runs cashless. Bring a credit or debit card. Children 3 and under ride free. Anyone 17 and under needs a paying adult. Snorkel add-ons are available if you want to go deeper, and locker rentals and an Aqua Park are options at checkout.

Is this one for you?The tour moves at a steady pace (ferry rides, time in the water with the pigs, and an afternoon split between water activities and beach time), so it suits anyone comfortable getting wet and spending five hours between the boat and the island. If you want to stay dry or prefer a slower morning, the snorkel add-on and Aqua Park are optional, so you control how much time you spend in the water.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4): free.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What are the swimming pigs actually like when you get in the water with them?
The swimming pigs roam free in their own turquoise lagoon and come straight toward you when you hold out a snack, with their snouts up and no hesitation. They're accustomed to swimmers but not penned or trained, so the encounter feels unscripted. You wade in the warm shallows and they paddle over on their own terms.
How much time do you actually spend at Pearl Island itself?
After the ferry ride to the pigs and back, you have a full afternoon on Pearl Island to use the beaches, kayaks, paddleboards and water mats, climb the lighthouse, and eat lunch. The whole tour is five hours from Nassau, so the island portion is the bulk of your day once the pig encounter wraps.
Can you bring your own food and drinks to Pearl Island?
No outside food or drinks are permitted on Pearl Island, except baby food and formula. The island is cashless and runs on card payments only, so you'll use the on-site bar for beverages and rely on the fresh Bahamian lunch cooked there.
Do you need to bring snorkel gear, or is it available on the island?
Snorkel gear is not part of the standard tour. A guided snorkeling adventure is available as a paid add-on at checkout, with a minimum age of 8 and photo ID required to prove age.
