The experience

The catamaran departs from Paradise Island marina (behind Margaritaville Restaurant, at the ferry terminal) and sails through the harbor to Athol Island's reef. Once anchored, the crew issues snorkel equipment and walks you through safety and technique before you enter the water. The snorkel time runs approximately one hour: long enough to move past the initial fish and actually watch how the reef works, rather than just glimpse it.

Back aboard, you sail back to land with the breeze and unlimited complimentary refreshments: domestic beers, rum punch, mixed cocktails, water and soft drinks flow throughout the return. The whole outing takes about 3.5 hours. You'll need to be a swimmer to snorkel. Moderate fitness is expected, and children under 15 must have an adult with them in the water.
