The experience

You start at the base of the Elferbahnen cable car in Neustift im Stubaital. The lift ticket is not included, so you buy it separately and ride up to the launch point. Once there, the pilot walks you through a safety briefing, fits you into the harness and seat, and checks all the equipment: helmet, seat belt, and the rest of the gear that keeps you secure. No prior experience is required. The pilot handles the flying.

The flight itself lasts 12–16 minutes depending on the weather and thermals that day. You're strapped in beside the pilot, watching the Stubai glacier, the surrounding peaks, and the untouched alpine terrain drop away beneath you. The descent is smooth, ending in the valley floor. Afterward, you get a flight diploma to take home.

The whole experience (briefing, flight, and landing) takes about an hour. If you want photos or video of the flight, you can book that on site for €30. The pilots are state-certified and fully insured, and they've been flying this valley since 1989. The team speaks English, Italian, and German.
