The Experience
Cool morning air hit my face as we rolled into the Yarra Valley, just past sunrise. The vineyards looked almost silver with dew—never seen vines shimmer like that before. Our guide, Pete, had us laughing within minutes, pointing out kangaroos in the distance and sharing how this region’s been making wine for nearly two centuries. First stop was a family-run cellar door I’d never heard of—no crowds, just us and the winemaker pouring pinot noir straight from the barrel. There was this faint smell of eucalyptus outside, mixing with fresh bread from a bakery next door.
Lunch came at our second winery—a long wooden table set up by the window so you could watch magpies hop around outside while you ate. We had about two hours here: enough time to try their chardonnay (crisp, almost lemony) and tuck into platters piled high with local cheese and charcuterie. Nobody rushed us; honestly, it felt more like visiting friends than being on a tour. By the third stop, most of us were swapping stories over glasses of sparkling rosé. Some folks grabbed a bottle to share out on the lawn—sun warm on our backs, cicadas buzzing somewhere close by. We lingered until it was time to head back, not quite ready to leave those rolling green hills behind.
What’s included
Your private transport for the day (with air-con), three guided tastings at different Yarra Valley wineries, and a hearty shared lunch are all part of your package. We keep groups small and flexible so you get more time enjoying wine—not sitting on a bus.
