Handcrafted wines paired with locally made cheeses at a family vineyard.

A wine and cheese tasting at McCaffrey's Estate, a small family-owned Hunter Valley vineyard, where you sit down to taste exclusive wines grown on the property alongside artisan local cheeses. The guide shares stories of life among the vines and teaches you how to taste wine properly, with food pairing suggestions for each pour. A live English-speaking guide leads the experience. Children from age 1 are welcome to attend with their parents.

The experience

McCaffrey's Estate sits on 11 acres and produces wines that don't reach bottle shops: Sparkling, Semillon, Verdelho, Chardonnay, Rosé, Merlot Cabernet, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz and Fortified Wine are all grown and made on the family property. You'll taste a selection of these handcrafted wines paired with artisan cheeses made locally, seated and relaxed rather than standing at a bar. The guide walks you through the mechanics of tasting: how to swirl, sniff and sip, and which foods complement which wines.

The experience runs about an hour and centers on the stories behind the vineyard itself: how the family works the land, what shapes the wines from season to season, the rhythms of life among the vines. This is not a tour of the property or a winery walk. It's a seated tasting where the conversation and the wines are the main event. Children and infants can attend with their parents, and service animals are welcome.

What’s included
