The experience

You start the morning on Moreno Lake in a tandem kayak with rudder, paddles, spray skirt and life jacket. Two hours of paddling takes you across crystalline water with Cerro Lopez rising ahead. The guide paddles alongside, and the pace stays steady: no whitewater, no racing. After you leave the water, lunch waits by the shore.

The afternoon is a short hike to Mirador del Tristeza, a viewpoint that opens onto Nahuel Huapi Lake and the face of Cerro Capilla. The trail is one and a half hours on foot. A guide leads the way and sets the rhythm. The group stays small and private. By the end of the day you've moved through the landscape two different ways (from the kayak seat and on foot), and seen two separate lakes and their surrounding peaks.
