The experience
You get picked up from your hotel or the cruise dock and driven through Antigua's villages to Devil's Bridge, where Atlantic waves have carved a natural limestone arch and blowholes into the easterly coastline over centuries. The formation is slippery from the spray, so you view it from the safe approach rather than crossing the arch itself. From there the tour moves to Shirley Heights, an 18th-century English Guard Post on a hilltop overlooking English Harbour. On a clear day the neighboring islands are visible from the vantage point.
Betty's Hope, a former sugar plantation, anchors the historical half of the tour: the site played a central role in Antigua and Barbuda's 300-year colonial economy. You also visit the Interpretation Centre to learn about Antiguan culture and heritage, and drive through the lush tropical area where the island's black pineapples grow. Samples of pineapple and mango (when in season) come with either rum punch or fruit punch, and bottled water is provided throughout.
The whole outing runs 3.5 hours in an air-conditioned minivan with a live guide speaking English. The guide handles the route and commentary, so you follow at a comfortable pace without navigating or planning stops yourself.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (under 6).
What is Devil's Bridge and why is it slippery?
Devil's Bridge is a natural limestone arch on Antigua's eastern coast, formed by Atlantic waves crashing into the rocks over time and creating geysers and blowholes. The limestone stays wet and slippery from the spray, so the tour does not cross the arch itself. You view it from the safe approach.
Can I see neighboring islands from Shirley Heights?

What was Betty's Hope and why does it matter to Antigua's history?
Betty's Hope is a former sugar plantation that played a prominent role in Antigua and Barbuda's 300-year-old history. The tour includes a visit to the site so you can see the ruins and understand the island's colonial past.
What food and drink are included?
The tour includes samples of local pineapple and mango (seasonal), plus either rum punch or fruit punch. Bottled water is provided throughout the 3.5 hours.
Do I need to arrange my own transport to the tour?
No. Pickup is included from your hotel or the cruise dock, and you travel in an air-conditioned minivan with the guide for the entire tour.
