Snorkeling in Antigua: Glass Kayak Eco Tour with Transfer
See the seafloor without getting wet, then snorkel the same waters you just paddled through.
A 3-hour snorkeling activity in Antigua where you paddle transparent glass kayaks through a calm, mangrove-lined bay to watch marine life from above the water, then dive in to swim among it. Round-trip transfer from the cruise port or select hotels is included, along with snorkeling gear, a light meal and fruit punch. A live English-speaking guide leads the outing. Children from age 5 are welcome.
The Experience
What makes this different from a regular snorkel tour is the glass kayak half: you start by paddling through one of Antigua's clearest bays—lined with mangroves and a mixed seafloor of seaweed, sand and rocks—and the transparent hull lets you watch everything below without entering the water. The kayaks are quiet and non-invasive, so the fish and other marine life stay undisturbed while you learn about the island's ecosystem from your guide. After paddling, you switch to snorkeling gear and get in to swim among the same creatures you've been watching from above.
The bay itself is the draw: it's shallow, calm and packed with aquatic life because of the mangrove habitat and rocky bottom. You're not fighting currents or traveling far from shore. The whole outing runs three hours, and it includes lite bites and an island fruit punch to refuel between the kayaking and the snorkeling. The round-trip transfer picks you up from the cruise port, some hotels or a designated location, so you don't need to arrange your own transport or navigate to the launch point.
The activity does ask for moderate fitness—you're paddling a kayak and then swimming—so it's not a passive boat ride. Children from age 5 can join, though younger kids and anyone with cardiovascular concerns should check with their doctor first. The guide is there the whole time, so you get real information about what you're seeing instead of just pointing at fish.
