The experience

The safari vehicle's canvas roof zips open at the stargazing site, giving you an unobstructed view straight up into the night sky. Your guide handles the driving and the narration: pointing out constellations, explaining what you're seeing, and searching the bush for nocturnal wildlife as you move through the landscape. The moonlight and a flashlight are your only other light sources, which keeps the sky dark enough to see far more than you would from a city or a lit camp.

Two hours is the full duration, which fits into an evening without consuming your whole day. Hot coffee or tea arrives during the safari, and fleece sweaters are provided since the African bush cools down after sunset.
