The experience
After breakfast pickup from your hotel, you enter the Victoria Falls Rainforest on the Zimbabwean side, where the falls are known locally as Musi O Tunya: the Smoke that Thunders. Your guide leads you through the natural, misty forest that flanks the falls, stopping at 16 different viewpoints that span the width of the cascade. The route takes in the Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, and Rainbow Falls, then continues to smaller vantage points like the Boiling Pot and Cataract Island before reaching Livingstone Island.
The walk is steady but manageable, moving through the rainforest mist that rises constantly from the water below. From the Zimbabwean side, you also watch people swimming in Devil's Pool on the Zambian side across the gorge: a perspective unique to this route. Your guide handles the pacing and explains what you're seeing as you move between viewpoints, so you're not navigating on your own or rushing through.
The tour runs three to four hours total. You get bottled water throughout, and the air-conditioned vehicle waits to return you to your hotel when you're done. All park fees and taxes are covered in the price, so there's nothing extra to settle at the gate.
