The experience

You get picked up from your resort and driven to the park entrance. The tour itself is a walk through 16 advantage points over roughly 4 kilometers, guided by someone who knows the falls and the land. During high water season (January to August), the mist and spray are heavy enough that you'll get wet. The operator provides raincoats for that. The walk ends with a view of the Victoria Falls bridge from the side.

Wildlife appears along the route: bushbucks, warthogs, baboons, monkeys and birds. The guide takes you through all six of the named falls that make up Victoria Falls: Devil's Cataract, Main Falls, Horseshoe Falls, Rainbow Falls, Armchair Falls and Eastern Cataract Falls. Park entry, bottled water and an air-conditioned vehicle for transport are included.

Three timing options let you choose what fits your schedule. The sunrise tour departs before dawn. The open tour lets you pick any time during the day. The Luna tour runs only on moonlight days and carries an extra charge for night-time park entry, turning the falls into a different experience under the moon. The total time is 2 to 3 hours, which includes about an hour of travel.
