The experience
Expert elephant carers lead the entire experience, taking you through the herd to meet individual personalities and understand the skills that make elephants remarkable. You'll learn how they see, hear, smell and feel: the senses and intellect that set them apart. The carers handle the education and engagement. You get to observe and ask questions as the animals move around you, unhurried and unscripted.
The second half shifts to watching. You'll position yourself at the waterhole where the herd gathers to play, bathe and roll in mud: the behaviors they choose when left to themselves. There's no performance, no forced interaction. You're seeing what elephants actually do when they're not being managed. This is where the knowledge the carers shared becomes visible in the animals' movements and choices.
The activity runs about an hour and includes private transportation from your location, so you don't need to arrange a ride or navigate to the site yourself. Bottled water is provided. The guide speaks English and can answer questions throughout. Children from age 13 are welcome, and the grounds are fully wheelchair accessible.

What do the elephant carers actually teach you during the activity?
The carers focus on how elephants perceive and interact with their world: their senses of sight, hearing and smell, and the intelligence and emotions that drive their social behavior. They introduce you to individual elephants in the herd, each with distinct personalities, and explain the unique skills and behaviors that make them the animals they are.
Do you touch or feed the elephants during this activity?
The activity centers on getting up close and observing the elephants as the carers guide you through the herd. The focus is on learning their behaviors and watching them in their natural environment at the waterhole rather than on hands-on contact or feeding.
What happens at the waterhole, and how close do you get to the elephants there?
At the waterhole, the elephants play, bathe, roll in mud and interact with each other as they would without human direction. You watch from a position that lets you see their natural behavior without barriers, though the exact distance depends on where the animals choose to be and how they move during the activity.
