The experience
The tour picks you up at 8:30 am from your Sapa hotel or a meeting point in town, then heads out on motorbike with your driver and guide. The first stage takes you up to O Quy Ho Village where you get your first view of Muong Hoa Valley, then to a panorama viewpoint overlooking Fansipan Mountain. From there you ride to Thac Bac waterfall, one of Sapa's most striking, and hike up for 40 minutes to reach it, with time to photograph and rest before heading back down.
After the waterfall, the route turns to the villages most visitors never find. You stop at Ta Giang Phing to visit a Red Dao family and learn how they live, then ride through backroads and countryside to Ban Khoang, where you see a huge valley filled with rice paddies and get time to take pictures from the motorbike. On the way to Ta Phin you pass through Phin Ho, a village with almost no tourism, before arriving in Ta Phin for lunch at a local family's home or restaurant. The afternoon is yours to walk around the village and visit local families with your guide before staying overnight in a traditional homestay.
Day two starts after breakfast, heading further into the mountains toward Hang Da and Soi Chua on roads with no tourist traffic. You'll see rice fields, valleys and local people at work, then continue to Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Ta Van: villages where you meet the Day ethnic minority and have lunch. On the ride back to Sapa you pass through small roads across the paddy fields, cross a river to the ancient stone area, and visit Ta Giang Phing village before the tour ends in Sapa town. Water and a rain poncho are provided throughout. Dinner is included on day one.
