The experience

The day starts at the Loc Tho Pagoda Orphanage, a private facility caring for around 160 abandoned, orphaned, or street children. You'll spend time with the kids, learning how the Vietnamese school system works and joining them in play and singing. The nuns and volunteers who run the orphanage have dedicated themselves to rescuing and raising these children, and your visit includes a gift to support their work.

From there, the tour moves to the Po Nagar Cham Towers, a group of structures built and rebuilt over centuries from the seventh through twelfth centuries. The main tower, Thap Ba, may have been commissioned by King Harivarman I around 813–817. You'll see how the towers survived damage over time and were partially rebuilt with brick during the French colonial period, though some artifacts were lost during the war.

The route also takes you to a family mat-weaving workshop where artisans create mats with vibrant colors and intricate patterns passed down through generations. Then you'll move through the rice paddy fields that surround Nha Trang, where you can see how rice (central to Vietnamese food and culture) is grown in the lowland terrain. Your guide provides context on the landscape and the role these fields play in the region's life.
