There's time to doze or watch the landscape shift from urban streets to limestone cliffs rising out of the water. By 11am you're at Beo Harbour on Cat Ba, boarding the cruise itself: a proper boat with a rooftop bar, two restaurants, a floating pool, and yes, an actual water slide. It's the kind of setup that makes you realize this isn't a packed tourist ferry.
Once you're on the water heading into Lan Ha Bay, the itinerary moves fast but doesn't feel rushed. You stop at Cai Beo, a 7,000-year-old fishing village where houses still float along the mountainside. It's quiet in a way that feels almost accidental, like the place hasn't quite noticed tourism yet.
