Brew three Vietnamese teas and taste the traditions behind them

A hands-on tea and coffee workshop in Hanoi where you learn traditional brewing techniques from a Cultural Storyteller in a quiet garden villa. You craft three signature Vietnamese teas—Daily Tea, Lotus Tea, and Fusion Tea—then brew three iconic Hanoi coffees, tasting each one while discovering the cultural stories and rituals that shape Vietnamese daily life. The workshop runs 2.5 hours and includes a welcome herbal drink, guided tastings, and a tasting of homemade Vietnamese fruit liqueurs. Certificates are available on request, and you receive a PDF guide for brewing lotus tea at home.

The Experience

Hanoi's tea culture runs deeper than the street vendors and café corners. This workshop sits in a hidden garden villa away from the bustling streets, where a Cultural Storyteller walks you through the craft of three signature teas—each one tied to a different moment in Vietnamese life. You start with a welcome herbal drink while you settle in, then move straight to the hands-on work: learning how to brew Daily Tea, Lotus Tea (which carries the fragrance of West Lake's summer blooms), and Fusion Tea. Each one tastes different because each one is made differently, and the storyteller explains not just the technique but why these teas matter to the people who drink them every day.

The second half shifts to coffee. Hanoi has its own coffee traditions—slow drips, sweetened condensed milk, the ritual of sitting still while it brews—and you'll craft three iconic versions, learning the methods that make each one distinct. Between the teas and coffees, you're tasting constantly, which means you're not just learning the steps; you're understanding why they work. The workshop closes with a tasting of homemade Vietnamese fruit liqueurs, each one made with its own story. By the end, you leave with a certificate (if you want one) and a PDF file so you can brew lotus tea the way you learned it, at home.

The villa itself is the kind of quiet space that doesn't exist much in central Hanoi—a garden where the pace slows down. The Cultural Storyteller speaks English and guides the whole experience, so there's no confusion about technique or meaning. If you're traveling with small children, they can come along (infants sit on a lap), and the space is wheelchair accessible. Luggage storage is available if you need it for up to three days. Every booking supports local community initiatives and sustainable farming in the Lam Dong region, so the money goes somewhere that matters.

Top questions

What exactly is Lotus Tea and why is it special to Hanoi?

Lotus Tea is one of the three signature teas you'll brew in the workshop. It's scented with lotus flowers from West Lake and carries their fragrance—a living heritage that's preserved through traditional craftsmanship rather than factory methods. The workshop teaches you how to brew it properly so you can recreate it at home using the PDF guide included with your booking.

Can I choose which teas and coffees to learn, or do I brew all of them?

The workshop offers three purchase options at checkout. You can choose to craft only the 3 Signature Teas, focus on the Lotus Tea Ceremony alone, or go for the full experience with 3 Teas, 3 Coffees & 3 Liqueurs. Each option includes guided tastings and cultural storytelling, so you pick the depth that suits your interest.

How long does the workshop take and what time does it start?

The workshop runs 2.5 hours total. The specific start time isn't listed here, so you'll confirm that when you book—just check the available time slots for the day you want to attend.

Is this workshop suitable if I have mobility issues or use a wheelchair?

Yes, the hidden garden villa is wheelchair accessible. If you have questions about specific access needs, reach out to the operator before booking so they can confirm the exact setup of the space.

What does my booking support beyond the workshop itself?

Every booking helps fund children's education, educational opportunities, and sustainable farming initiatives in local communities across Lam Dong province. The Cultural Storytellers who lead the workshop are part of this community-focused model.

Do I need any experience with tea or coffee to join?

No experience is required. The Cultural Storyteller teaches traditional brewing techniques from the ground up, so you learn the methods and the stories behind them whether you're new to tea and coffee or already familiar with them.
