You brew, whisk, taste, and adjust each coffee to your preference while learning why it tastes this way.

A hands-on Vietnamese coffee workshop in Hanoi where you make 4–6 signature coffees under guidance from locals raised in coffee culture. Small groups keep the pace unhurried; you brew, whisk, taste and adjust recipes to your taste while learning practical tips that work at home. Fresh ingredients arrive daily, and the instructor shares stories about the city and the culture behind each coffee style.

The Experience

The workshop runs two hours in a lived-in local space with a ceramic bar as your playground. You'll make Black, Brown, Egg, White, Coconut and Salted coffees—or choose the four-coffee option at checkout—each one a different take on how Hanoi tastes coffee. The beans come from the Central Highlands, selected for the season; fresh eggs, milk and coconut arrive daily, nothing pre-made. Your instructor, raised in this coffee culture, shows you how to balance bitterness, control flavor and make coffee taste better without fancy equipment at home.

The group stays small so nothing feels rushed. You're not watching a demonstration—you're at the bar with the tools in your hands, tasting as you go, adjusting sweetness and boldness while staying true to each coffee's original character. The instructor explains ingredients clearly and offers home-friendly substitutes so you can recreate what you've learned. Stories flow naturally about the city, old cafes and what each coffee says about local life. The bar stays open to explore; if you want to linger over a technique or try a variation, there's room for it.

Your instructor doubles as a photographer, capturing the morning as it unfolds. You leave with full recipes, new skills, and the practical knowledge of how locals actually drink coffee—not just the method, but the why behind each choice.

What’s included

  • All tools and ceramic equipment at the bar.
  • fresh specialty coffee beans and daily-prepared ingredients (eggs, milk, coconut).
  • air conditioning.

Is this one for you?Choose the six-coffee option if you want the full range of Hanoi coffee styles and the time to adjust each one to your taste; the four-coffee version works if you prefer a tighter focus or are new to Vietnamese coffee and want to build confidence with fewer variations at once.

Top questions

What are the 6 Vietnamese coffees I'll learn to make?

The workshop covers Black (pure bold coffee), Brown (strong coffee with milk), Egg (creamy and well-balanced, a Hanoi specialty), White (light and sweet Saigon style), Coconut (rich and balanced between sweetness and bitterness), and Salted (where salt unlocks deeper sweetness and aroma). If you choose the four-coffee option, your instructor will help you select which ones to focus on.

Can I choose how sweet or strong I want my coffee?

Yes. Recipes are personalized during the workshop—you adjust each coffee sweeter, bolder or lighter while staying true to the original character of that style. The instructor teaches you how locals balance bitterness and control flavor so you can make those same adjustments at home.

Are the ingredients fresh, or are they pre-made?

All ingredients are fresh and prepared daily: eggs, milk, coconut and specialty beans sourced from the Central Highlands. Nothing is pre-made or artificial. The beans change throughout the year with seasonal harvests, so only what's good is used.

Will I get the recipes to take home?

Yes. Full recipes and practical tips are included, along with home-friendly substitutes for ingredients so you can recreate the coffees without specialty equipment.

Is this workshop accessible if I use a wheelchair?

Yes. All areas and surfaces are wheelchair accessible, and the space is air-conditioned. Public transportation options are available nearby if you need them.

Can I bring children or a pet?

Infants and small children can attend; infants must sit on an adult's lap, and prams or strollers are welcome. The workshop also has a pet-friendly garden space.
