The experience

Day one starts with pickup from your Hanoi hotel (or arrival at the pier by noon if you arrange your own transport), then a sail into Lan Ha Bay with lunch served in the yacht's restaurant. By mid-afternoon you're kayaking or taking a bamboo boat through Light and Dark Cave, followed by a swim near the ship. The evening brings a sunset party on deck, a cooking demonstration where you learn to roll spring rolls, and dinner in the dining room. The night is yours to spend on the top deck watching squid fishing, listening to live music, or retreating to your cabin with its private balcony facing the bay.

Day two begins early: a 6:15 sunrise or Tai Chi class on deck, then breakfast. A day boat takes you to Viet Hai Village on Cat Ba Island, where you bike through rice fields and trek into the forest to find a hidden cave. Lunch is a BBQ served on the day boat. The afternoon is split between kayaking Van Boi Bay to visit a floating village and swimming at a beach. Back aboard by evening, you have another sunset party and dinner, with the night again open for the top deck or your cabin.

Day three moves faster. An early Tai Chi class or sunrise viewing, breakfast, then a bus trip to Cat Ba National Park to see the stalagmite and stalactite cave system. You check out by mid-morning, have brunch as the yacht sails back to port, and disembark by 11:30. If you booked the return limousine transfer, it departs at 14:30 for Hanoi.
