The experience

The day starts with a ride over Hai Van Pass, a winding mountain road that drops to the coast and ranks among the world's most beautiful drives. The pass carries decades of Vietnamese history and the road itself (with its tight curves and zigzag climbs) delivers the kind of views that make the ride the destination. You stop to photograph and have lunch partway through, then continue to My Khe Beach, a long flat stretch of sand near Da Nang where you can swim and relax before the afternoon leg.

From the beach, the route leads to Marble Mountains, a cluster of five limestone and marble hills named after the five elements. The mountains hold cave entrances, tunnels and Buddhist sanctuaries. You can climb to the summit of Mount Thuy if you choose. The area is also known for stone sculpture and stone-cutting crafts that have shaped the region for generations. Entry to all sites is covered, and your guide handles the stops so you never wonder what comes next.

The final stop is Lap An Lagoon, a brackish waterway where fresh and salt water meet, ringed by Bach Ma Mountain and facing Lang Co Bay. At sunset the lagoon reflects the sky like a mirror. The whole route is designed so no single stretch exceeds 40 minutes of riding: your guide watches the pace and your comfort is their priority. Children from age six are welcome.
