The Ha Giang Loop from Hanoi isn't a bus tour where you sit and watch the landscape pass. You're on a motorbike with someone who knows every village, every pass, every reason to stop. The van picks you up at your hotel in Hanoi at 6:30am, drives six hours north to Ha Giang City, and by 2pm you're already moving through the mountains, past Tam Son, stopping at Lung Khuy Cave—a 300-meter passage discovered in 2015 with stalactites that have been forming for millions of years. The first day ends in Dong Van Town with dinner made from local ingredients, happy water (rice liquor), and whatever music or games the locals feel like that evening.

Day two is the trekking day, and it's the reason people come back talking about this route. You start early from Dong Van, pass through Pải Lủng Village where Hmong families grow corn on rocky slopes, then climb into bamboo forest and up to Sả Lủng, where lunch happens at altitude. The path follows the Nho Quế River, winds past Mã Pì Lèng Pass—one of the most photographed bends in Vietnam—and leads to the Sky Path, a narrow ridge where you can see the whole valley below. Your motorbike guide stops whenever you want to shoot photos or just stand and breathe. By evening you're back in Dong Van, in a hotel room, eating dinner again with people who've been doing this for years. Day three takes you through Lung Ho, Mậu Duệ, and Mèo Vác, and then something shifts: instead of a hotel, you sleep in a homestay in Du Gia Village, surrounded by rice fields that are actually green and quiet. It's not luxury, but it's real, and you wake up to the sound of the valley instead of traffic.

The last morning you visit Lùng Tám Village, where Mong people still practice traditional brocade weaving—the kind of craft that doesn't exist in most places anymore. By 3pm you're back in Ha Giang City with time to shower and rest. The VIP van leaves at 4pm for the six-hour drive back to Hanoi, arriving in the evening. The whole trip includes your accommodation (hotel and homestay), all transport (the van from Hanoi, the motorbike with your guide), water, and meals.
