The experience
The day starts at your hotel and moves through three distinct landscapes. Lady Buddha, Vietnam's tallest Buddha statue, stands 67 meters high inside Linh Ung Pagoda courtyard on Son Tra Peninsula, about 9 kilometers from My Khe beach. From there you head to Marble Mountain, where stone steps carved into the rock lead upward past caves and grottos to a pagoda at the summit, with views across the region spreading out below.
The basket boat experience happens in Cam Thanh Coconut Forest, a 100-hectare jungle of coconut palms that has grown for 200 years. You row a small woven basket boat (thung chai) along the water, and fishermen aboard teach you how to catch crabs: two people share each boat. The forest sits near Cua Dai and has the feel of the Mekong Delta, though here the transport is basket boats instead of wooden ones. After the water, you visit Hoi An Ancient Town, a preserved Southeast Asian trading port from the 15th to 19th century, where you walk past the Japanese bridge, old houses, and stop for local foods.
The tour runs 7 to 8 hours total. Your guide speaks English throughout, and the day includes hotel pickup and drop-off, bottled water, entrance tickets to all sites, and meals at local restaurants. A minimum of two people per booking applies, and infants can sit on an adult's lap or use a specialized infant seat if needed.
