The Experience

The day starts with pickup from your Hoi An hotel and a drive north along the East Vietnam Sea coast to Marble Mountains, the limestone cluster just south of Da Nang. You'll climb to the summit of Thuy Son — the only one of the five marble mountains open to visitors — for panoramic views across the city and coast. The caves here are natural formations carved into the rock; you'll walk through them and see the pagodas built inside during the Nguyễn Dynasty. At the base of the mountains, artisans work in a crafts settlement producing handmade marble sculptures, and you'll have time to watch them work.

After the mountains, the tour moves to the Cham Museum, where you'll spend time with the most complete collection of Cham sculpture and artifacts anywhere. The Cham were a maritime kingdom that ruled parts of central Vietnam for centuries, and the museum's pieces — carved stone, ceramics, and religious objects — tell that history. Lunch is included and served during the day. Then you'll cross the Thuan Phuoc Bridge, a suspension bridge spanning the Han River that's the longest of its kind in Vietnam; the driver stops so you can photograph it and the Dragon Bridge, Da Nang's symbol. Before heading back to Hoi An, there's time to browse Son Tra Night Market if you want to shop.

Your guide speaks English throughout the day and travels with you in an air-conditioned minivan.
