Registan Square opens the tour — three madrasahs frame a public plaza that was the heart of the Timurid Renaissance, where announcements once echoed across the sand. Siab Bazaar comes next — a lively market where you sample traditional delicacies and move through the stalls without a fixed itinerary. The energy shifts when you reach Bibi-Khanym Mosque, once one of the largest and most magnificent mosques in the Islamic world. It stands as a grandiose ruin now, restored in parts during the Soviet period, but the scale and the tilework still command the space. The tour closes at Gur-e-Emir Mausoleum, the tomb of Tamerlane, with its distinctive azure dome and the remains of the madrasah and entrance portal that date to the end of the 14th century.
