The Experience
You get picked up and spend the morning moving through Sedona's most photographed vistas with a guide who knows the red rock landscape. The route starts at Airport overlook, where Thunder Mountain and the surrounding cliffs frame the first view, then moves to Chapel of the Holy Cross—a 1950s structure built by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, perched on a red rock pedestal. From there the drive cuts through Oak Creek Canyon, a road that has been voted among the most beautiful in the United States, to an overlook on top of the Colorado Plateau where you can shop for Native American arts and crafts before heading back down into town.
The afternoon shifts to wine. After a stop at Tlaquepaque Arts and Shopping Village—a colonial-style arts and crafts village built under giant Sycamore trees with galleries, gift shops and curio stores—you move to several vineyards along Oak Creek for tastings. The guide handles all the driving; transportation, bottled water, one wine tasting per person and snacks are included. The full day runs eight hours, with the guide narrating the landscape and the stops built around what you want to linger on.
