The route takes you past the Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina, down to Fort Point where the Golden Gate Bridge towers 200 feet overhead (you can't drive across it, but the vantage point is close enough to feel it), and then through neighborhoods most visitors miss—Crissy Field where locals jog and walk dogs, the Presidio with its quiet architecture and bay views, and out to Ocean Beach where you can look for sand dollars in the fog. Fisherman's Wharf comes alive as you roll past the crab shacks and bakeries, and if you're game for it, you'll zoom down Lombard Street, San Francisco's crookedest street, at the end of your tour. The whole thing runs at a maximum of 35 mph, though most drivers average 30 or less on city streets.
