The Experience
You arrive at a meeting spot around 10am—customized locations available for groups of five or more—and a guide with over two decades of winery experience takes the wheel. No navigating, no deciding which of San Diego's hundred wineries to hit: the guide has tasted at most of them and knows the optimal route to fit the most into a morning. The tour runs 4.5 hours, which means you're back by 2:30pm with the rest of your day still open.
At the first estate, you taste grapes straight from the vines during a hands-on viticulture demo, then move into a behind-the-scenes tour of the winery itself—sometimes the guide shares the ghost stories that live in the cellars. The second stop follows the same rhythm: more tastings, more access to the working parts of the vineyard most visitors never see. Between the two estates, you get ample tastes of local wines paired with charcuterie and chocolate, then a full meal served on the vineyard grounds where you can sit with a glass and look out over the vines.
The tour is all-inclusive: transportation, the guide's expertise, all tastings, the meal, and a wine tote gift at the end. The only thing not covered is gratuity for the guide. Voted #1 for food and drink on TripAdvisor since 2010, the operation runs public tours and private ones; single travelers are welcome, and groups up to 14 depart together. The tour stays in San Diego's original wine country—not Temecula or Riverside County, but the local vineyards the guide knows best.

Is this one for you?The 4.5-hour window means you can fit a full vineyard morning into a free afternoon or a day between other plans—transportation and winery stops are arranged, so you're not building the schedule yourself. If you need the whole day for wine country, look for a longer tour; if you have just a couple of hours, this one won't fit.
