You'll Float 130 mph Without Leaving the Ground

You'll spend about 75 minutes at iFLY Orlando, including a brief training session and two separate one-on-one flights in a vertical wind tunnel reaching 130–175 mph. Your certified instructor guides you through the entire experience, all gear is provided, and you leave with a flight certificate. No prior skydiving experience is necessary, and the facility accommodates ages 3 and up.

Step-by-step itinerary

Indoor skydiving training and flights

  • Attend expert training session
  • Learn to float in wind tunnel
  • Experience two 60-second flights
  • Receive personalized flight certificate

The Experience

The moment the wind tunnel fires up, your stomach does something unexpected. You're standing in what looks like a glass tube, your instructor is holding your harness, and suddenly the air beneath you gets solid. Not metaphorically — you're actually lifting off the ground, suspended in an 800-horsepower column of wind that professional skydivers use to train. The whole thing takes about 75 minutes from the moment you walk in, but those 60 seconds of actual flight time feel longer than that. You get two separate flights, each one-on-one with your instructor, and the wind speed climbs to somewhere between 130 and 175 mph depending on how your body responds.

Before you step into the tunnel, there's a training session with a certified flight instructor who walks you through the basics — how to position your body, where to keep your hands, what to expect when the air pressure hits. It sounds technical, but it's really just five or ten minutes of "here's how not to panic." The facility is called iFLY Orlando, and it's designed so you can't actually fall; the wall-to-wall airflow keeps you centered on the column, and your instructor stays right there with you the whole time. No skydiving experience required, and the gear — jumpsuit, goggles, helmet — is all provided. Kids as young as three can fly, though anyone under 18 needs a parent or guardian to sign the waiver.

What catches people off guard is how real it feels. You're not in a simulator or strapped to a machine. You're floating, actually weightless, and the only thing between you and the ground is air moving fast enough to hold you up. Your instructor can guide you through small movements — a barrel roll, a gentle spin — but mostly you're just there, suspended, getting the sensation skydivers get without the airplane ride. At the end you get a personalized flight certificate, which is the kind of thing that sounds cheesy until you're holding it and realizing you just did something you weren't sure you could do.

Wear lace-up sneakers and comfortable clothes — nothing too loose or it'll flap around in the wind. If you've had recent neck, back, shoulder or heart issues, or if you're pregnant, you won't be able to fly; there's also a weight consideration (the facility has limits for safety reasons), so if you're near 260 pounds or above, call ahead and they'll let you know what's possible. To reschedule after you've booked, you'll need to call the location directly — changes can't be made online.

What’s included

Your experience includes one-on-one guidance from a certified flight instructor, a training session covering body positioning and safety, all flight gear (jumpsuit, goggles, helmet), two separate 60-second flights in the wind tunnel, and a personalized certificate of flight achievement.

Each of your two flights lasts 60 seconds in the wind tunnel. The entire experience, including training and gear setup, takes about 75 minutes.

The minimum age is 3 years old. Children under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign their waiver before flying.

Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes, but you must call iFLY Orlando directly. Changes cannot be made online.
