America's first combination candy bar was invented in Nashville in 1912, and you'll make your own version in the class.

A hands-on candy making class at Nashville's Goo Goo Chocolate Co. flagship store where you design your own Premium Goo Goo cluster, choosing from a variety of ingredients, while learning the history of Tennessee's official candy bar. The one-hour experience includes a tasting flight of chocolates, a sample of the original Goo Goo Cluster, instructor-led instruction, and an apron to take home. Children from age 3 are welcome when accompanied by an adult.

The Experience

The Goo Goo Chocolate Co. flagship store sits in downtown Nashville, and the class starts with the story: in 1912, this was America's first combination candy bar—a mound of caramel, marshmallow nougat, and roasted peanuts under milk chocolate. You'll taste a flight of different chocolates and sample the original cluster before moving to the hands-on part of the session.

In the candy making portion, you design your own Premium Goo Goo from a large selection of included ingredients, working with a local instructor who guides the process. The class runs about an hour, and you walk out with the candy you made and a souvenir apron. The store is wheelchair accessible, and public transportation options are nearby if you're not driving downtown.

Is this one for you? This is a shared class with a live instructor, so you'll be making candy alongside other guests in a group setting. It works well if you want hands-on instruction and the social energy of a classroom, rather than a private one-on-one experience, and if you're comfortable with a structured hour that moves through tasting and then making in sequence.
