Belle Meade started as one of the nation's largest private estates in the 1800s, built on thoroughbred horse racing and Southern hospitality. The guided mansion tour lasts 45 minutes and covers the main house with a professional guide. After the tour wraps, you move to the on-site Belle Meade Winery for complimentary wine tasting—included with your ticket, no separate charge.

The grounds themselves are 30 acres, designated as an Arboretum, and you walk them on your own after the guided portion. You can also explore the outbuildings at your pace. The property has free on-site parking, and the first floor of the mansion and grounds are wheelchair accessible; there's a ramp to the side porch and an elevator in the Visitor Center if you need it. Plan for two hours total on the property to do the guided tour, the wine tasting, and a real walk of the grounds without rushing.

If you want to add more, Belle Meade offers a bourbon tasting separately, a guided outbuildings tour, and The Belle Meade Meat & Three restaurant on-site.
