Step onto a Broadway honky tonk stage and capture your moment in Music City

A one-hour beginner line dancing class held in an authentic honky tonk on Nashville's Lower Broadway, where you learn two country dances step-by-step and receive a digital video of your performance. The class runs at three venues—Bootleggers Inn, AJ's Good Time Bar, and Nudies Honky Tonk—with group sizes capped at 25 to 50 depending on location. Children from age 4 are welcome, and the instructor teaches at a pace that builds confidence from the first dance to a slightly harder second one.

The Experience

The class starts with a beginner-level warm-up dance where the instructor walks you through each step, then moves into a second dance that's a notch harder. Both are real country dances you'll recognize in honky tonks across the US. The instructor is patient and the room votes on which dances to learn that day, so no two classes are quite the same. Expect to break a sweat—it's high-energy and built to be fun, not intimidating.

You get bottled water during the class and the chance to take personal photos on stage. The venues sit in the heart of Lower Broadway's action, so the honky tonk atmosphere is part of the deal: you're learning in the actual place where people dance these songs. All three locations have stairs to reach the classroom, though the operator can discuss elevator access at one secondary venue if you need it in advance.

Within two weeks, you'll receive a Google Drive link to a video of yourself dancing—shot either handheld or from a tripod depending on the class. It's yours to share, post, or use to refresh the steps at home. The class includes access to the bar downstairs, so you can order a drink before or after if you want.

Top questions

What if I've never line danced before?

The class is designed for beginners and starts with a warm-up dance where the instructor teaches the basics step by step. The instructor is patient and the goal is to build your confidence, not to keep up with experienced dancers—everyone in the room is learning.

Do I get to pick which dances we learn?

The instructor showcases dance options for each class and the group votes on which ones to do. You'll learn two dances in the hour, both well-known country line dances that range from beginner to intermediate level.

How many people are usually in the class?

Group size depends on the venue: Bootleggers Inn holds up to 30, AJ's Good Time Bar up to 25, and Nudies Honky Tonk up to 50. Contact the operator in advance if you need a private class or have a larger group.

What happens with the video you film?

The instructor records each dance on an iPhone and emails you a Google Drive link within two weeks so you can watch yourself, share it with friends, or use it to practice the steps later.

Can children come to the class?

Yes, children from age 4 are welcome. The class is suitable for all fitness levels, though it is physical—you'll be dancing for the full hour.

Do I need to bring anything or wear specific shoes?

Wear comfortable clothes and shoes you can move in. Bottled water is provided. The operator asks that you consider your own health and physical abilities before booking, since it's a full hour of active dancing.
