The Experience

“If you listen, you can sometimes feel them before you see them,” our captain said as we climbed onto the raft at Ka'anapali Beach. I didn’t totally get what he meant until we were out there — the ocean was glassy, and the only sounds were the slap of waves and a couple of birds calling from shore.
