The experience

You arrive at the range after a Humvee pickup from your Las Vegas hotel (or drive yourself if you prefer). An instructor fits you with safety gear and walks through the range rules and weapon handling before you step up to the line. A dedicated safety officer stays with you the entire time, watching your stance and grip, making sure you're comfortable with each gun before you fire. The rush comes fast: you start with the Glock 17 handgun and 20 rounds, move to the MP5 submachine gun with 25 rounds, then the M4 rifle with another 25, and finish with the tactical pump-action shotgun and five shells.
