Marble House comes next, another Beaux-Arts masterpiece completed in 1892 for Alva and William Kissam Vanderbilt. Designed by architect Richard Morris Hunt, it features a temple-front portico modeled on the White House and is clad in white Westchester marble with French neoclassical details. The interior is equally opulent. If you add admission, you'll have roughly 90 minutes to walk through the rooms. The mansion is now a National Historic Landmark operated by the Newport Preservation Society.
