The experience
You arrive at the rental point with a few hours free and no experience driving an ATV, or you've ridden before and want to explore without a guide dictating the pace. Either way, you get a 4-seat Polaris RZR with Ride Command GPS loaded with the Top of the World route, a hand-picked trail that climbs through towering pine forests and winding mountain terrain to some of the highest overlooks in the Uinta range. The GPS keeps you on course. The route itself is the guide, with local tips marking the best photo stops and scenic overlooks built in. You drive, your passengers ride, and the three of you (or four) decide when to stop, how long to linger, and which alpine meadow or hidden lake deserves the camera time.
The ride climbs into high-elevation terrain where panoramic mountain views open up across rocky ridgelines, and wildlife (moose, elk, deer, hawks, bald eagles) moves through the landscape around you. This is one of Utah's most photographed off-road destinations, and the reason becomes obvious once you're there. You'll get dirty. The rental includes cleaning, so bring clothes you don't mind soiling. Fuel, a cooler, Rockford Fosgate audio (connect via Bluetooth or USB), helmets, goggles and a neck buff all come with the machine. Premium damage insurance covers up to $1,500 out of pocket, so minor scrapes don't derail the day.
The Top of the World route fills quickly during summer and fall, especially on prime dates, so book ahead if those seasons suit your trip. Just minutes from Park City, this self-guided format works for families, couples, first-time riders and groups who want the mountain experience without the pace of a group tour.
