Atlanta Spice Blending Class: Create Two Custom Blends
Mix, taste, and take home spice blends you made in the lab.
A 1.5-hour hands-on spice blending class in downtown Atlanta where you learn how flavors work, then create two custom spice blends to take home. The guide leads you through experiments on why cinnamon resists water, how alliums transform over time, and what happens when spices bloom or toast. You'll sample one of your blends with a snack before you leave.
The experience
You arrive at the Spice Lab a block from Centennial Olympic Park and step into a guided session that treats spice like an experiment. The guide walks you through why certain flavors behave the way they do: cinnamon's resistance to water, the deepening complexity of alliums over time, what happens when spices bloom, toast, or rest. It's part chemistry, part tasting, and you're learning by doing, not watching a demo.
Then you move to the hands-on part. Using what you've learned, you create two custom spice blends from scratch, mixing and adjusting until they're exactly what you want. At the end of the class, you sample one of your blends with a snack, so you know what you're taking home. Both blends come with a recipe card, so you can remake them or adjust them later. Everything you make stays with you.
The whole thing runs 1.5 hours, which means it fits before or after the main tourist sites downtown. A morning class leaves your afternoon free, or an afternoon slot works if you're heading out early. The location is one block from Centennial Olympic Park and across from the Luckie at Cone transit stop, so you don't need a car to get there. Bring water and curiosity. The lab provides bottled water and snacks.
