The experience

The route starts on Amelia Island's designated bike path and crosses the George Crady Bridge into Big Talbot Island, where the trail narrows and drops down to the beach. That's where the electric motor earns its place: sand riding that would wear you out on a regular bike becomes easy on a Pedego. The power is yours to use: pedal normally if you want, or let the motor carry you. It's the same bike, only the effort changes.

Along the way, you ride through moss-laden live oaks, past natural waterways, and along coastal paths where you'll catch glimpses of the island's wildlife. The 7-mile loop takes 2 to 3 hours, and the pace is set by the group. On the return, there's an optional stop at the Shops of Amelia Island for refreshments before heading back to the Pedego Store (subject to bike availability).

All you need to bring is the ability to ride a bike safely. You'll certify that you've ridden one within the last 5 years before departure. Helmets and the electric bikes are included. A moderate level of fitness helps, though the motor handles the hardest stretches.
