The experience

Pickup happens at 2:30pm from your hotel or mall in a Land Cruiser, and the drive takes you straight to the Red Sand Dunes where the activities begin. The day opens with sand dune bashing (the vehicle tackles the slopes while you sit inside), then moves into camel riding across the dunes. Between the physical activities, you'll get a henna tattoo applied, dress in an Arabic costume for a photoshoot, and watch live Tanoura dancing and a belly dance performance. Sand boarding and skiing are also available if you want to try them.

Downtime is built in for a top-of-the-dune sunset photo, which is when most people capture the light and the landscape together. Arabic coffee, tea and dates arrive early, followed by starters. The hot BBQ dinner comes with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, so there's a choice depending on what you eat. After dinner, a live fire show takes place, and shisha (water pipe) is available if you want to smoke it: alcoholic beverages can be purchased separately if you choose.

The guide stays with the group throughout and speaks English, Arabic, Hindi or Filipino. Drop-off back at your hotel or mall happens around 9 or 9:30pm, depending on traffic.
