A six-hour evening desert safari in Dubai's Red Desert combines a 30-minute 4x4 dune bash, camel ride, henna painting and a buffet BBQ dinner with live entertainment (belly dance, tanura dance and fire shows) all with hotel pickup and drop-off. The guide speaks English, Spanish, Italian, French and four other languages. Not recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, pregnancy or cardiovascular conditions. Infants must sit on an adult's lap.

The experience

The afternoon pickup from your hotel takes you into the Red Desert, where the 4x4 ride cuts across high dunes as the sun drops toward the horizon. The dune bashing lasts 30 minutes: the vehicle climbs and descends the rippling sand while the light turns orange across the expanse. Once the sun sets, you arrive at the desert camp.

At camp, you ride a camel across the sand, then settle on low cushions with Arabic coffee and dates. A guide paints henna designs on your hands while you wait for dinner. The buffet includes grilled meat and traditional dishes, with unlimited soft drinks and water throughout the evening. Shisha is available to smoke if you want it.

The live entertainment runs through the meal: a belly dance performance, a tanura dancer in a spinning skirt, and a fire show. The guide stays with the group and translates what is happening. The return to your hotel happens after the shows end, completing the six-hour loop.
