The Experience

The day starts early from Dubai and moves north through Sharjah, the cultural capital, where you see the King Faisal Mosque and the abandoned 14th-century coral-stone village of Al Quriyah. From there the route continues to Ajman, where you spend time at the Ajman Museum—an 18th-century fort with exhibits of traditional weapons, jewelry and clothing—and walk Ajman Beach. The air-conditioned vehicle and a guide in English, Hindi, Punjabi or Urdu handle the logistics while you move between sites.

The second half of the day takes you inland to Umm Al Quwain Fort, then to Ras Al Khaimah, where the Ras Al Khaimah National Museum sits in a historic fort and covers traditional life, crafts and the pearl industry. You then head to Fujairah on the Indian Ocean coast, visiting the 16th-century Fujairah Fort, the oldest mosque in the UAE—a mud-and-stone structure in the mountains—and the Fujairah Museum with its archaeological finds and regional artifacts. On the return to Dubai, you pass through Khor Fakkan and see the Khorfakkan Waterfall, a 43-metre-high man-made cascade on a natural cliff overlooking the coast.

Bottled water is provided throughout, and museum entry is included so you don't wait in lines at the door. The route covers roughly 300 kilometres of driving across five emirates in eight to nine hours, which is what makes visiting this many sites in one day possible without a second vehicle or separate bookings.
