The experience
The equator line itself is the anchor of the day. You'll stand directly on it (the geographical divide where the Northern and Southern hemispheres meet), and photograph yourself straddling both sides at once. The guide walks you through the science of what makes this spot unique, then sets up the experiments: watch water drain in opposite directions on each side of the line, a visible proof of the Coriolis effect that most people only read about. A certificate with your name and an official equator stamp is available to buy at a discount, a tangible record of the visit.
Between the experiments and the return to Kampala, you'll spend time with local artisans and craftspeople who work near the equator site. They demonstrate traditional techniques (weaving, carving, beadwork), and sell handmade souvenirs directly. Lunch is at a local restaurant where you eat authentic Ugandan cuisine, a meal included in the tour price. The whole outing runs about four hours, enough time to move through each stop without rushing but short enough to fit into a single afternoon.
The van is a 4x4 safari mini van that holds up to eight passengers comfortably with their bags. Pickup is included in the price, though if your hotel is outside Kampala there's an additional charge of $30. The guide speaks English throughout, and the site is wheelchair accessible. Water is provided during the tour.
