The experience
You start at South Side Marina, where the guide walks you through jet ski basics and safety before you head out. The marina sits on the south coast of Providenciales and has long been a hub for water sports and maritime history. From there, you pilot your own jet ski to Iguana Bay Island (also called Bay Cay), a small limestone cay in the Princess Alexandra National Park. The island is home to native Turks and Caicos rock iguanas. You'll explore the beach and cliffs and spot them in their natural habitat while the guide explains the conservation work keeping the species alive.
Next you jet ski across the Caicos Banks toward the La Famille Shipwreck. The route passes coral heads and reef just below the surface, and the water stays a calm turquoise that reflects the sky. The La Famille Express ran aground here during Hurricane Frances in 2004 and now sits on a reef in about seven feet of water. You snorkel around the wreck and the nearby reefs, getting close to the aquatic life. The shallow depth and calm conditions make it straightforward to explore both the boat and the surrounding coral.
On the return to South Side Marina, the guide takes you along Long Bay Beach and through the Turtle Tail region, pointing out limestone cays that are part of the national parks. You'll have a final chance to photograph the coastline as you approach the dock. The whole outing runs two hours and includes snorkeling equipment, a life jacket, bottled water and the guide's local insight throughout.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
What is Iguana Bay Island like when you get there?
Iguana Bay Island is a small uninhabited limestone cay with a sheltered beach, cliffs and native Turks and Caicos rock iguanas living in their natural habitat. It's part of the Princess Alexandra National Park, a protected area for the endangered iguana population, and you'll explore the island and spot the iguanas while the guide explains the conservation efforts.
Can you snorkel around the La Famille Shipwreck itself?
Yes. The La Famille Express sits on a reef in about seven feet of water, and the calm, shallow conditions let you snorkel around the wreck and nearby reefs to see aquatic life up close. The wreck has been there since Hurricane Frances pushed it onto the reef in 2004.
Do you need jet ski experience to book this?
No. The guide gives you a brief introduction to the jet ski and essential safety instructions at South Side Marina before you set out, so beginners can participate.
What's included in the price?
The activity includes the jet ski for up to two guests, snorkeling equipment, a life jacket, bottled water, the professional guide and GST. You'll need to arrange gratuities separately.
