The experience

The tour starts with pickup from your Istanbul hotel and transfer to the airport for your flight to Denizli. Your guide meets you at the arrival terminal and drives you to Pamukkale Natural Park. If you're starting from a hotel in Pamukkale or Karahayit instead, the guide collects you there and skips the flight. Either way, you arrive at the park ready to begin exploring.

Hierapolis Ancient City sits above the travertine pools, and you'll walk through its highlights with your guide: the Roman Baths, Domitian Gate, Latrina, Oil Factory, Frontinus Street, Agora, Byzantium Gate, Triton Fountain, Cathedral, Apollon Temple, Plutonium, and the Theater. The ruins are free to enter with your park ticket. After the guided section, you get 60 to 75 minutes of free time to swim in the white travertine thermal pools and explore on your own. The Antique Pool sits higher up, fed by the same hot springs Cleopatra once bathed in. It holds clear warm water instead of the milky white of the lower pools, and the remains of a Roman temple with Doric columns once stood above it.

Lunch happens at a local restaurant partway through the day. Afterward, you visit a traditional handcraft workshop to learn about the special stones and metals of the region. The tour ends with a return transfer to your hotel in Pamukkale or Karahayit, or, if you booked the Istanbul option, a drive back to Denizli Çardak Airport for your evening flight home, followed by a final transfer from Istanbul Airport to your hotel.
