Istanbul Eurasia Bike & Boat Tour: Two Continents in Half a Day
Pedal through two continents and watch the city shift from one shore to the other.
The Istanbul Eurasia Bike & Boat Tour is a half-day guided route through both the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, combining cycling through historic neighborhoods with a public boat crossing of the Bosphorus Strait. You cycle through Fener and Balat, see the Spice Bazaar and Galata Bridge from the water, pedal about 5 km on the Asian side through Kadikoy and Moda, and return by boat across the Golden Horn. The Experience
You start by cycling through the narrow, sloped streets of Fener and Balat on Istanbul's European side, passing the old wooden houses and street corners that make these neighborhoods feel separate from the modern city. The route takes you down to Eminönü Square, where you'll see the Spice Bazaar, the New Mosque and the Galata Bridge from street level before heading to the water. Then you board a public boat for the Bosphorus crossing—this is where the tour shifts from land to water. You sit on the boat watching both shores slide past, the European side with its minarets and the Asian side opening up ahead, and you can order Turkish tea while the city rearranges itself around you.
Once you land on the Asian side, you cycle about 5 km through Kadikoy, one of Istanbul's busiest neighborhoods, on what the itinerary notes is the most comfortable bike lane of the day. You stop in Salacak in front of the Maiden's Tower—one of the most photographed angles in the city, with the Old City and European waterfront framed across the water. Then you roll into Moda for a break where you can rest and try Turkish ice cream or grab a drink. The pace here is slower than the European side; you're moving through a neighborhood rather than racing through history.
You cycle back to Kadikoy Pier and take the boat again, this time returning to the European side and landing at Karakoy. From there you ride along the Golden Horn's edge back toward where you started, finishing near Balat after about 4 to 5 hours total. The whole day is built around the boat crossings—they're the punctuation marks that make the two halves feel like two different cities rather than one continuous ride.
What’s included
- Helmet and bicycle for the entire route.
- tickets for both public boat crossings of the Bosphorus Strait and the Golden Horn.
- live guide in English or Turkish throughout the tour.

The tour includes a helmet and bicycle for the entire route, plus tickets for the two public boat crossings of the Bosphorus and the Golden Horn. A live guide in English or Turkish leads the group throughout.
Is this tour suitable if I haven't cycled much recently?
The operator requires a moderate level of physical fitness and notes the tour is not recommended for travelers with poor cardiovascular health. You'll be cycling on and off for 4 to 5 hours with breaks, including about 5 km on the Asian side's bike lane.
