The experience

The route unfolds over six days, each one built around a different landscape. You start in Djerba with a night at a 4-star inn, then drive inland to Tataouine to see the local architecture and the Berber village of Duiret, staying in a cottage. The next day takes you to Ksar Ghilane, a desert oasis with a hot spring where you can choose to ride a camel or a quad bike in the dunes before lunch, then onward to the Saharan village of Sabria, where you sleep in a tent at a camp. From there you cross Chott El Jerid, the famous salt lake, to reach Tozeur and a 4-star inn with a free afternoon to explore the medina and palm groves if you want.

Day five is dedicated to the mountain oases: you visit Chebika, Tamerza and Mides, then return to Tozeur to see the Dar Cheraït Museum. The final day heads back west through Matmata, where you walk through the lunar landscape and step inside a troglodyte house carved into the hillside, then pass through Toujane, a Berber village perched on the mountains, before returning to Djerba for your airport transfer according to your flight time.

Transport is air-conditioned throughout, and your guide is a certified professional who speaks your language. Accommodation rotates between comfortable hotels, a cottage and a desert camp, so you experience different ways of staying in the region. Camel and quad rides in the dunes are optional extras you can add at checkout.
