- Tour ancient Punic city Kerkouane
- Visit El Haouaria artificial caves
- Relax at Korbous natural hot spring spa
The experience
The day starts in Hammamet itself, moving through the cultural center housed in a Romanian billionaire's villa (which hosts the international festival each summer), the Punic archaeological site of Pupput, and the medina's fort, built between 893 and 914. From there the tour heads east into Cap-Bon, where the peninsula's clay deposits and coastal trade have shaped five more stops, each with its own pull.
Nabeul sits on the ruins of Roman Neapolis and is still a working pottery center: the medina's souks sell painted plates and faience made by hand. Kelibia brings you to a working fishing port and a fort overlooking it, plus the local dry muscat wine. Kerkouane is the archaeological heart: a Punic city and necropolis that UNESCO has listed as a World Heritage site, with no modern town built over it. Haouaria's caves were dug by prisoners or slaves under Carthaginian and Roman rule and are still visible. The tour ends at Korbous, where natural hot springs have drawn visitors since antiquity for their mineral content and healing reputation.
The route takes seven to eight hours with a driver and guide who stays with the group. The vehicle is air-conditioned and fitted for wheelchairs. Specialized infant seats are available if you need them. Water is provided. You'll move by car between towns rather than walk long distances, so the pace suits most fitness levels, though the itinerary itself is full: five archaeological sites, two working ports and markets, and a spa town all in one push.

Is this one for you?Book this as a private tour if you want to set the pace and ask the guide questions without a group around you. Book shared if you're traveling solo or as a pair and don't mind company, since the cost drops and the route stays the same. The seven- to eight-hour commitment means you'll see six towns and five major archaeological sites in a single push. It's full but not rushed, and the guide handles all the driving so you can look out the window instead of navigating.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
What exactly is Kerkouane and why is it on the UNESCO list?
Kerkouane is a Punic city and necropolis, a burial ground, dating to the Carthaginian period. It's listed because the site is intact and largely unbuilt-over, so it shows what a Punic settlement actually looked like without modern structures layered on top. The tour includes a walk through the ruins.
Is this tour private, or will I be sharing the vehicle with other travelers?
You can book it private for one or two people in a standard vehicle, or as a shared tour for up to six people total. Either way, you get a dedicated guide and driver for the full day. The vehicle type depends on your group size at checkout.
What's included in the price, and what do I pay extra for?
Transportation, the guide, fuel, bottled water, and the air-conditioned vehicle are all included. Entrance fees to any museums or archaeological sites, meals, and personal expenses are not. You pay those separately as you go.
What time does the tour start and end?
The tour lasts seven to eight hours total. Pickup from your hotel in Hammamet is included, so the start time will be arranged when you book based on your accommodation.
